Those 46 languages are categorized into two different groups: Liferay officially supported languages, and Community contributed languages. Although you won't see that category in any place on the Liferay Portal interface, these two categories have a slightly different considerations in how the language is translated and handled by support services (for subscription customers).

Liferay officially supported languages

The languages in this category are specifically reviewed by Liferay staff and look after to check that the Liferay Portal administration interface in that language looks consistent and it is clear for the native speakers in that language.

There are higher requisites for a language to be in this category: 

  • There are at least 2 Liferay employees who are proficient at reading and writing the language.
  • At least 95% of the keys are translated for that language.

Community contributed languages

This category is composed of any other languages in which the community has helped to translate to.

For a language to be considered as community contributed, it has to:

  • Have at least a proofreader for the language
  • Have at least 65% of the keys translated to the language
