Over more than 20 years, hundreds of developers have contributed to Liferay's Open Source projects, whether the core Liferay Portal project, or the many other projects that have been started individually and contributed to the flexibility and strength of the Liferay Platform.

Over time, many of those projects have been incorporated into the core platform, but some, shown below, are developed separately, or used outside of, but in conjunction with Liferay DXP.

Liferay DXP

Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is open-source software that business and technical teams can use to create engaging, adaptable experiences for every audience.

Clay

Clay is Liferay's web implementation of the Lexicon Experience Design Language. It is built with HTML, CSS, and Javascript with Bootstrap as a foundation.

Liferay IDE

The offficial set of Eclipse plug-ins supporting development for the Liferay Portal application platform, available as Liferay IDE and Liferay Developer Studio.

Portlet MVC 4 Spring

Originally part of the Spring Framework, Spring Portlet MVC was adopted by Liferay and renamed Portlet MVC 4 Spring. It now supports Spring 6 and Jakarta EE.
