session-timeout problem with mobiles

On our Liferay 6.2 site we have session-timeout set to 10 minutes (in web.xml).

This works fine on PC and MAC browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari).

But it doesn't work on any tested mobile device, like iphone 6 safari/chrome, samsung 6 default web browser/chrome.
After hours the site is still open in the mobile web browser and the user can continue without need to login again.

Is this default behaviour for mobiles?
Is there a way to get around this problem?
Is it possible from code to monitor time left on "session-timeout" setting?

That sounds like a permissions issue. Were you signed in when you got that error message? Anyway, this was my post:

Any suggestions on how to make session timeout work for mobile devices?
