Liferay Sync not syncing some folders

Hi

In some of our sites, some folders do not Sync.
However they start to sync when I change them, for instance, add a description.
It actually seems like old folders and files are not synced and just ignored ??!!
Is this a feature or a bug ?
Is it possible to change the behavior ?

We are using the latest client version 3.0.12 (LF 6.2EE on server)

Hi Armaz,

Are you also using the latest version of the Sync Connector (v3.0.2)? Please send your logs to sync@liferay.com (click the tray icon -> "Preferences" -> "General" tab -> "save logs" on the bottom right).

Hello,

I have the same problem. I have installed LifeSync 3.1.0 GA on a PC with windows 8.
We don't have all the files existing on the server ????

Hi Patrice,

Can you also check that you're using the latest version of the Sync Connector (v3.0.2)? Please send your logs to sync@liferay.com (click the tray icon -> "Preferences" -> "General" tab -> "save logs" on the bottom right) and provide the paths of some/all of the files that you're missing.

I have now updated my Sync Connector to the latest version, 3.1.0, but still the same.

I send the logs now.

Hi everybody!

I have the same problem.

I have installed Liferay Sync v3.4.1 GA (liferay-sync-3.4.1-ga2-20161214173159375-x64.msi) on a PC with windows 7 Professional.

Liferay Portal Enterprise Edition 6.2.10 EE GA1 on Server.

I downloaded Liferay Sync Connector version 4.1.0 and installed it on server, but when I looked into control painel it shows me Liferay Sync Connector version 3.3.1.

In fact, I don't have access to all the files existing on the server and I think this is strange.

In some of our sites, some folders do not Sync.

However they start to sync when I change them, for instance, add a description or public it again.

It actually seems like old folders and files are not synced and just ignored.

Could you please, answer me what can I do to fix the problem?

Hi Claudia,

Sync Connector 3.3.1 is the latest version for Liferay Portal 6.2 (Connector 4.1.0 is for Liferay DXP).

Do you know which service pack of Liferay Portal 6.2 you're running?

Can you either attach or email me your server logs covering the time you upgraded to Sync Connector 3.3.1?

Please also send me logs from your Liferay Sync client (click Liferay Sync dock icon -> "Preferences" -> "General" tab -> "save logs" on the bottom right).

Hi Dennis,

I thought I installed version 4.1.0 because the marketplace shows me this version, but when I installed the package I saw in the control panel version 3.3.1.
I believe the package recognizes my liferay version and installs the correct one.
Anyway I unplugged the Liferay Connector and installed again to collect the log, which goes attachment.

About the service pack I inform that the version is 16. Below Patching tool info:

Product information:
   * Installation type: binary
   * Build number: 6210
   * Service pack version:
     - available SP version: 16
     - installable SP version: 16
   * Patching-tool version: 1.0.23
   * Time: 2016-12-21 14: 10Z

Attached also the Liferay Sync log.

Hi Claudia,

Can you send me the server logs from the first time you installed Sync Connector 3.3.1? I'm trying to see if there was an error during the upgrade process.

You can also run the verify process which will correct any database inconsistencies. To run it, set sync-web's portlet.properties sync.verify=true, then re-deploy sync-web. After the verification is finished, set sync.verify=false so that the verification doesn't run again on the next re-deploy.

Sorry for the delay in replying but I had some urgent problems to resolve around here in the last week.

About the log of the first installation of the Sync Connector unfortunately I did not find it. It has been installed a few months and we do not have back up logs.

About the activation of Sync-web I have a question: will it search for inconsistencies in the complete database or only in some tables of the Sync Connector? I ask because our database is very large and I do not want to make it unavailable or even crash the environment.

Hi Claudia,

It will search for inconsistencies by scanning the entire DLFileEntry and DLFolder tables and populating the SyncDLObject table. Although the verify process is quite fast, I would schedule downtime or test the upgrade in a backup environment to test how long it takes.

Hi Dennis,

is it possible to force resync of all data in DL?

I have a situation when I first installed LS and then uninstalled it from Windows PC so after a couple of months of not using it I just reinstalled LS
and now I can't resync all of the files and folders in DL.

I have completely removed LR installation from PC and deleted sync folder so no traces left.

Can you describe what happens when you try to connect Liferay Sync to your portal? Do you get errors? Are you missing some/all your files? etc.

Hi Dennis,

I see my site but none of the files/folders inside. I can upload new files and create new folders but can't see old ones and can't enter into existing folders in DL.

If I go to admin web interface and if I change any file or folder that file/folder is displayed ("resynced") in LS but only after I change something.

We have a couple of thousand files/folders in DL and going to every one of them and change something is not possible :-)

Can I somehow "trigger" database or LS to execute complete resync with all of my files/folders into new empty location (nothing will be deleted on production server in DL)?

hm. Do you have server logs covering the time of your Sync Connector upgrade? It looks like you have the same issue as Claudia. I'd really like to fix this bug as a full re-sync should not be necessary.

You can follow the same instructions I provided Claudia to re-populate the portal's Sync table. Run the verify process by:

1) Set sync-web's portlet.properties sync.verify=true
2) Re-deploy sync-web
3) Wait until verification is finished
4) Set sync.verify=false so that the verification doesn't run again on the next re-deploy

We are migrating from Liferay version 6.1 to 6.2, many things to do and I have not yet had time to perform the procedure suggested by Dennis ...
