Position: Liferay Developer
Type: Contract
Duration: 1 month approximately
Location: New York City, NY (with the possibility of some remote work)

Rate/Salary ($): Market/Negotiable
A large multinational organization in the New York Tri-State area is seeking the services of a Liferay developer on a short-term contract to enhance an existing Liferay installation. The successful candidate may be able to work remotely, but at least two on-site visits are anticipated.
Background:
The not-for-profit organization has an existing live Liferay portal installation which is the engine of a website used to disseminate information to users - registered or un-registered. The website is low-traffic, generating typically a few hundred hits per month, at most.
The website and the Liferay portal backend require updates and enhancements. See below for more details of the Liferay installation.
Skill Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with Liferay version 6.0 and up.
• Strong hands-on experience in writing and deploying portlets, extensions, hooks and themes.
• Strong implementation experience in Liferay.
• Experience with Apache HTTP and Tomcat Server is desired
• Minimum 2 years of experience with Liferay J2EE Portal is desired
• Experience with J2EE Spring and Hibernate Frameworks is strongly desired
• 3-5 years Web development experience using J2EE, JavaScript and CSS
• Experience with Oracle databases
• Experience troubleshooting Liferay deployment issues
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Fluency in English is required.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
• Consult with relevant stakeholders to decide on scope, deliverables and time lines for the project contract
• Modify and improve the existing Liferay portal installation as per agreed-upon deliverables and timelines
• Review the existing portal to determine possible improvements or enhancements
• Suggest further improvements to the existing Liferay portal installation
Description of the existing portal:
• Platform: Liferay
• Version: Community Edition 6.1.0 CE
• Back End Database: Oracle
• Other: The Liferay installation has been customized by the installation of custom hooks, templates, layouts and portlets.
