Liferay 6.2 Milestone 2 Feature Review

Hi all,

Liferay has released the second milestone (Milestone 2) build of the next version of Liferay. This comes close on the heels of the Milestone 1 build and bugsquad is going to do a round of feature testing with these two milestones, and continue to review 4 of the new features. This build is mainly to include Calendar and to make some improvements to our build and release engineering processes, and get to the point where these are easier and faster to produce, and get our code base quality at release quality level much earlier in the process. So while there are no new major features to review, the Calendar is now there, and there are also many (almost 200) fixes done in the last 2 weeks to resolve some issues in PACL, Hot Deploy, and others.

EDIT: Just to re-iterate, this milestone wasn't originally intended to show up so quickly, but we had some issues in M1 that we wanted to resolve, and rather than re-issue the M1, our release team wanted to just do another incremental M2. Assuming no major catastrophes, M3 will not be issued until there are significant additions/changes from M2.

Please check out the Milestone 2 wiki page for more details, and happy reviewing!

Hey Terry - yes the official M2 period has "ended" (it ends 4 weeks after the release, so therefore on Dec 21), but of course you can continue to review the same items (e.g. the Calendar, etc) in future Milestones!

The M3 release will be available very soon (like, in the next few days, not weeks). The date in JIRA is generally used as the date of the final build, not the GA date.
