Hi All,

and greetings from the Project Learn! I have decided to give a brief description of the current state of the project and also give a delayed introduction of the project founders.

We are currently finalizing the eLearning portlet family, which includes the SCORM -player, Gradebook and Quiz portlets. These portlets will bring the LMS functions to the Liferay portal platform. I am very exited to see them in action! We also have got new member for the Project Learn. So welcome Drew!

Here is the delayed presentation of our background on the Project Learn founders. My name is Jari Järvelä, and I have been working in the training and eLearning industry since 2000. I have experience on different technologies and LMS's supporting eLearning activities in different organizations. I got interested on Liferay and it's potential on eLearning in 2009. I joined Arcusys Ltd. in 2010 and started to develop eLearning solutions based on Liferay with the other team of Arcusys. Arcusys is a Finnish company providing portal solutions for both public and private sector. We have office also in Petrozavodsk, Russia.

My fellow colleague from the Arcusys on the Project Learn is Janne Hietala. He has long history working as a Liferay consultat in the deep end of portal development projects. He has launched Arcusys' product developement methodology upon Liferay platform and is heavily involved on releasing high quality open source softaware. Janne is one of the key partners in Arcusys family. He is intrested of finding new partners and early adopters for Project Learn in US, Europe and APAC markets.

Our goal for the project is to bring the LMS features to Liferay and create other tools supporting eLearning in different pedagogic contexts. The flexibility of Liferay allows for building future eLearning environments that extends the capabilities of traditional LMS solutions. For sharing the experiences of using Liferay as a learning tool, we'll open up a topic for the Project Learn forum for presenting different cases on Liferay use as an educational portal or tool.

Hi Jari,

Good to find this project. In my company we also have developed various porltets to improve the social capabilities of a traditional elearning tool, conforming a great social learning plataform to our public and private clients in Spain.

So, I would get engaged in the project, if is posible :-)

Good job and best regards!
