Is everybody on vacation today?

With so few posts today, I was wondering if everybody is on a vacation today. It's vacation this week in Japan, but it is vacation else where too?

I remember a joke that what once heard. When a software company outsourced it's support desk, the person who answered the phone talked about it being a good day when it was raining on the city where the software company was located. :-)

Not only has it been a slow day today, but it seems to have been slow all weekend.

Maybe everyone's taking a break in anticipation of the next big Liferay release coming up...

I've actually taken to using chrome's translate abilities to try answering posts in other languages, although my responses are in English, at least I can make heads or tails of the questions...

Shouldn't do that too much. The French forum admin was complaining about it sometimes ago because it'll makes the distinction between the language forums meaningless.

I try not to. On the other hand, folks are posting questions looking for answers, I don't know that they'll mind too much if their response is in english...

It seems May 1 is a May Day and a national holiday in most countries. To think about it, it's already May again. Time sure flies by. :-)

Well, here in Poland if you took 3 days off you got over a week free emoticon

In Spain May 1th is Holiday, but 2th only in some regions (for example, Madrid).

2th of May is for celebrating the rising of Madrid against French (Napoleon) troops:

It is being pushed back to May 25 - Getting CE GA2, SO 2.0, and Marketplace all lined up is taking an enormous amount of effort! But I think you will be pleased with the result, so thanks for all of your continued patience!

This can go on forever. There's always going to be some remaining bug. I'll rather see it the new version on schedule.
I do hope Liferay.com understands that the delay is hurting their business more than it is benefiting from additional functionalities and less bugs.
I know that this is a CE version and there are other projects which delay their releases, but if this was an actual client project, each additional
day late means additional penality cost incurred.

Yep you're right, but there are some important issues resolved enough time ago (hence they should be stable), and seems they are easy to backport.

Anyway I don't really care (I am preparing a patch as I did other times), but probably would be important for others.

Seriously? Do you guys have that much trouble submitting patches to Liferay? I've been tossing around creating some patches for some SB functionality I use, but if they can't get merged back in I'll have to rethink that...

It's not submitting the patches, but more of the delay that may occur getting the patches into a release.
Liferay is a very large and complex software now and Liferay.com is actually doing very extensive testing for each release. Getting the patches into a release may imply starting the testing all over again.

If it's not a show stopper, I'll rather see the new release out.

I agree whole-heartedly. And I appreciate that Liferay's taking the time to fully test the patches rather than just stuffing them in.

I was worried a little by your statements that perhaps they weren't being so receptive of patches that you were releasing them on your own.

As far as the original question of the post, I was around then but am heading out on a two week vacation to Jamaica, starting today. It will be fun trying to catch up on two weeks' worth of posts when I get back (I knew I should have sprung for that new iPad... emoticon

)...
