Is Developer Key Required for Developer Tutorial for Liferay Web Project?

I am currenty following this tutorial to create a web project. I had successfully deployed the application, and I was required to enter the developer key for my local development.

Do I need a developer key for local development? The tutorial does not mention that a developer key is necessary. Do I miss some something?

For Liferay DXP: Yes, you'll need a Trial or Developer Key.

You can follow the tutorial with Liferay CE as well, in that case you don't need any key.
