Liferay still alive ?

Hi

I just wonder, following Liferay on Twitter and the Announcements in Forums, it doesn't seem like any interesting development has been done the last 8-9 months.
The whole point with Liferay 7 and the modularization was faster cycles of development.
As far as I can see, the Liferay modules (Wiki, Documents, blogs and all other portlets) they are just the same as they have always been.
What are all the developers doing ? Whats going on ? Whats on the roadmap ?

I hope I am wrong and that it is just me not looking at the right channels.

Best regards,

There's been a lot of bugfixing going on. We're now up to GA6, things are looking pretty stable, cluster support is back, ...

As far as why things have been quiet, well I think that is mostly because everyone is heads down on 7.1 CE. Before you ask, the only thing I know is that it is in the pipeline. I know there are cool features planned, but I don't know what will make it in. I don't even know timeline information.

Modularization does make for faster release cycles, but I think Liferay is still trying to figure out how to do modular releases instead of GA (monolithic) releases. I always find that in my own module development I'll feel like I need to extract an interface or modify an api or split a module... Until you get those details settled, each module change can be either a drop in the ocean or a tsunami that impacts other components.

Roadmap, etc. are covered at the various Liferay events such as the Symposiums or DevCon.

But yes, Liferay is absolutely alive and things are getting better every day!

Thank you so much for your reply David. Good to hear that Liferay is still "alive" emoticon
