Bundles and other download options

If you are used to binary releases, you can find the Liferay Portal 7.4 GA69 and Liferay Commerce 4.0 GA69 release on the download page.  If you need additional files (for example, the source code, or dependency libraries), visit the release page.

Dependency Management

For development using the Liferay Platform, update Liferay Workspace to use the  latest dependencies, by adding the following line to the build.gradle file:

dependencies {
	compileOnly group: "com.liferay.portal", name: "release.portal.api"
}

All portal dependencies are now defined with a single declaration. When using an IDE such as Eclipse or IntelliJ all apis are immediately available in autocomplete for immediate use.

By setting a product info key property it will be possible to update all dependencies to a new version by updating the liferay.workspace.product property in the liferay workspace projects gradle.property file:

liferay.workspace.product = portal-7.4-ga69

When using an IDE such as Eclipse or IntelliJ all apis are immediately available in autocomplete for immediate use.

Features

Experience Building

Create richer forms in Content Pages with the new form fragment types

Publications will often go through the same workflow each time.  This means they have the same editors, reviewers, publishers, etc.

Now we provide coverage to create forms in content pages that can be mapped to any object field type. New fragments such as rich text, long text, multiple picklist, etc, will help creating richer forms.

In addition to this, also categories and tags can be added from a form.

Customize your site's 404 error pages

In order to enable our customers to fully adapt their users' experience to their look and feel guidelines, we are now providing out-of-the-box 404 Error Pages that are fully customizable in their look and feel and are easy to edit through the page editor.

New Related Assets Collection Providers

Improving the ways of displaying related assets on pages, we now provide two new related assets collection providers:

  • Displaying the assets with the same categories as the asset that is being displayed.

  • Displaying the assets with categories belonging to the same vocabularies that the asset that is being displayed.

Publications

Publications Workflow Support

The only difference between how workflow behaves with Publications vs other applications has to do with how notifications work. Usually, when a change is made, you can just click into a notification to see the change. However, with Publications, if you aren't in the proper environment (i.e., in production or the correct publication), Liferay tells you to switch to the proper publication to see the change

Headless delivery API support publications

This feature exists to allow users be able to add things to a publication via headless api.

As a developer you can allow changes to be added to a publication that may come from an application outside of Liferay (i.e. through a client extension).

The feature makes it possible to use Publications with systems outside of Liferay.

Headless APIs that are CTAware can have its full API participate in a publication.

It is important to note that only *ResourceImpls with the CTAware annotation support this new feature.

Platform Experience and Design System

Better control of features adoption with new Feature Flags instance setting

Now users can activate BETA features and supported features released with Release feature flag from this new Instance Setting.
