Jan Gregor 12 Years Ago Hi Brian,Nice introduction. Last time James Falkner has mentioned, that there should be a new blog category comming, where all users can post their blog entries, not just Liferay staff. Is there any road map for this feature ?Jan. Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel Bryan Cheung Jan Gregor 12 Years Ago Hi Jan, yes we are working toward that but I don't know the timeline. I will ask James to comment on that. Not only that but I would like to see more sophisticated profile pages for each user in the community and also more dynamic partner profile pages. A partner should have an aggregate view of all of their developers' activities in the community. That way people will know that they are very knowledgeable on Liferay technology. I find very important to have a possibility of presentation on Liferay.com not only as a single person, but as a partner/organization. It allows all members of liferay eco-system to profit from it.So keep on good work!Jan. Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel Bryan Cheung Jan Gregor 12 Years Ago Yes, we will have to sort out the relationship between the User Profile, Partner Profile, and Marketplace apps. I'm sure we will want the three to reference each other intuitively. Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel James Falkner Bryan Cheung 12 Years Ago Hi Jan,Yep, we are working on the community blogging functionality now. The idea will be to have multiple streams of blogs, one for community, one for corporate/business topics. Each stream will be visually distinct (as well has having different programmatic streams like RSS or Atom feeds) and all community members will be able to post into the community stream. I don't have a firm due date for this, given the constant juggling of resources and features (such as Marketplace and the associated profile work Bryan mentioned), but I would guesstimate in the next 3-4 months. Are you planning to merge partner articles into community stream, or business ?Jan. Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel

don busky 12 Years Ago Hi Brian,Lovely functionality. This works beautifully across all my browsers on my pc. Still shows poorly on my blackberry 3g curve's mobile browser though. Some pages are even unable to load.I've always had a not-so-good experience with liferay on mobile phones. Any idea why?- Bobby Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel Nate Cavanaugh don busky 12 Years Ago Hi there,I haven't personally tested on a blackberry curve, but if you have any screenshots of what you're seeing, I'd be very curious. The main reason why you would see issues though is that the Blackberry web browsers have been exceptionally poor when it comes to rendering. Their recent phones have adopted webkit, but many of them have still gotten rather poor reviews from the user experience side (here's one such review that mentions some of the problems: http://www.intomobile.com/2010/09/08/review-blackberry-curve-3g-9300/).It's even worse for developers There are recommendations of Opera Mini as an alternative browser that works somewhat better. The Playbook (while not a phone) has gotten good reviews for it's browser, but I'm not sure if/when they'll apply that technology to their phones.Blackberry phones almost need a special theme unto themselves (which sounds like either a great community contribution or if someone needs it asap, sponsored dev ).As for general experiences with Liferay and mobile, we're currently working on making it easier for developers to build in mobile on Liferay, but many times it just depends on the specific implementation. At this years ECS, a community member showed me their implementation of a mobile site that ran quite snappy, looked exactly like a custom mobile app, and was running on Liferay over the web.So I think some of that is the implementation, but also it's our job to help make that easier, which is one of the areas we're focusing on Please sign in to reply.
