LDAP improvements.. things to come in Liferay Portal 4.4

So ive been tweaking with the LDAP stuff recently to make it easier for people to do LDAP integration in Liferay.  We've added some default LDAP server settings (feel free to send me corrections or additions.. i know there are many more LDAP servers out there) and also tweaked the code a bit to allow live "Test" buttons for the LDAP connection, user mapping and group mapping.  here's a preview:

LDAP Settings

Test Connection "Success"

Test Connection "Fail"

Test Connection "User Mapping"

Test Connection "Group Mapping"

Do you have any idea about when you hope to expand this again. We have the need to search across many base DNs as well as the need to support different LDAP scopes for each base DN.

This is not a limitation of Liferay rather it seems to be a limitation of just about every product that intergrates with LDAP servers - no one seems to expect the LDAP environments to be anything more than a single context under which all users and groups are defined.

Thanks

Roger
Those are great improvements. Do you expect to have the ability to search across different LDAP servers? We have a large base of systems that use MS AD, Mac OD & Sun LDAP. It would be great to be able to search thru any/all of them.

thanks again!
