David H Nebinger 4 Years Ago I'm going to be there! I look forward to catching up with folks I've met at past DEVCONs and also look forward to making new friends and acquaintances at the the upcoming DEVCON. And for those that don't know any better, the Unconference ticket is the one to have! Olaf tends to be a little honest since he hosts the Unconference, but it is by far some of the best open discussions across a range of topics that attendees want to have w/ Liferay. I'll see you all there! Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel Brendan Johan Lee David H Nebinger 4 Years Ago After many an unconference, the theme gets repetitive. But it's still a great place to be, and a wonderful place to catch up with all the people you only see once a year. However, from experience, people new to Liferay seem to often not go to the unconference (maybe because they feel they lack experience?). But if your new to Liferay, the unconference day is the most important day. You will learn so much, it will blow your mind. (And yes, I have off course secured my tickets to both the conference and unconference a while back. Looking forward to seeing all of you wonderful people again in a few months). Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel Brendan Johan Lee David H Nebinger 4 Years Ago I guess what I wrote wasn't as clear as what I thought when writing it. What I meant by "theme" was simply that after being at all the unconferences except one, you have "heard it all" and the interesting topics are not new to you. You loose the "wow, I'm learning so much" feeling. Nothing wrong with that at all, it's just a feature of working with Liferay for a long time. And I wouldn't have it changed at all, since, like I said, the unconference format is so valuable to new members of the community. Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel David H Nebinger Brendan Johan Lee 4 Years Ago Oh, so it's your fault... ;-) Seriously, though, the Unconference is about what attendees bring to the table. If the content is repeated from previous years, it's because it is what attendees ask for. If there are new things to discuss, new topics to cover or new areas to explore, please bring them with you and hang up cards for them. No session is too big or too small, so cards will not get turned away... Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Wouter Vernaillen 4 Years Ago Got my ticket, including unconference :) Will the unconference, community event and main conference all be in the same location or neighborhood? Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel Olaf Kock Wouter Vernaillen 4 Years Ago - Edited Not sure if they're technically the same, but they're close and belong together. At least they'll be next door to each other, if there isn't an overlap (The Unconference has less space than we have on the following days) Looking forward to seeing you in Mainz Please sign in to reply. Nothing that'll make you change any hotel choices as there's no hotel in between the two which would be closer to one or the other. Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel
