Ask is dead, long live Discuss!

Our new forums are live at discuss.liferay.com

As I said a couple of weeks ago, Ask has played a hugely valuable role over the years but it's time has come.

As of today I'm really excited to announce that the replacement to ask is now live - please let me introduce you to discuss.liferay.com!

Discuss is a brand new site, with brand new features, many of which we're still figuring out ourselves. But, we didn't want to wait any longer to get things moving, so we're going to learn as we go! Based on that, please be patient with us as we figure things out!

You'll be able to do a lot more with the new forums, and there will be much more interaction with Liferay folks as well, including (coming soon!) a new Product Ideas area where you will be able to let us know what you think the platform needs - and where our Product Managers will be present to triage and respond to your suggestions!

Here's how to get started with Discuss:

  • Visit discuss.liferay.com
  • Create a new account with one of these options
    • Add a new account directly on discuss
    • Login using a Google login
    • Login using a GitHub login
  • And you're ready to go!

What about Ask:

  • Ask is now entirely read-only - no new topics, no replies, no comments.
  • Ask will stay online until we're happy that everything we need is in the Discuss.
  • This will probably be about a year.
  • Finally, we'll remove the old data entirely.

We know we're moving fast, and you probably will have questions along the way, if you do, please let us know at community@liferay.com or in the comments below.

Cheers!

Ben
