RE: Web Content Display Portlet not listed - Liferay 7.2
I successfully upgraded Liferay from 6.2 GA6 to 7.2.0 GA1. Unfortunately, I noticed the ‘web content’ and ‘web content display’ portlets are not listed under Configuration > Components > Portlets. I am unable to add web content to pages due to this. What am I overlooking? How can I add these missing portlets?
BRODY HIGGS JR:
Upgrade routines come with the download, so they might be updated as well. For this reason you should always use the latest available GA release to upgrade to. In case your observation is caused by a flaw in the upgrade routines, it's unnecessary to deal with it. On the 7.2 line, GA2 is available. But as 7.3 GA6 is available, I'm wondering why to stop on an older version (unless it's just a step on your way to get current).

(I'm currently not aware if there is a direct upgrade routine from 6.2 to 7.3 - but you should definitely use the 7.2 GA2 upgrade routines if you upgrade to 7.2. Someone else with knowledge about the upgrade paths might step in and let us know)
Hi Brody,
Please, check the upgrade logs, probably there is an error which prevented those portlets to upgrade properly. Share your findings if needed.
Cheers!

The only error in upgrade log is the following which was received once the Gogo Shell appears. Is it possible to export the web content portlets, web content id: com_liferay_journal_web_portlet_JournalPortlet and web content display id: com_liferay_journal_content_web_portlet_JournalContentPortlet, from another Liferay 7.2 install and deploy it into my 7.2 test upgrade instance?

Hi Brody,
That's the reason why you can't access to the journal portal and everything which depends on the module which failed.
Please, review the logs to see what's happening with UpgradeJournalArticleType
