Page comments and guests

Hi!

I've been searching for a way for guests to easily comment on pages of our website and finally found out, that this is not possible within the page comments portlet.
Forum entry
Now another point: the portlet configuration offers the possibility for guests to at least VIEW the comments. Trying this out I as a guest cannot view the comments (it just shows a plain page comment portlet (Liferay 4.3.4 + 4.3.5, Jboss+Tomcat 4.0 + 4.2, Firefox)). I wonder if guests are not supposed to view the comments and its a bug within the configuration option or if g. are normally allowed to view the comments and its a bug in the portlet.
I'd be glad about a hint emoticon

Thanks in advance,

Anika

Hi Anika-
I just read your post and got to thinking that I had seen some tickets on support.liferay.com about page comments and I found one with a similar issue!
http://support.liferay.com/browse/LEP-4496
I'm not sure if the inability of guests to post comments is intended behavior or not but you should be able to have guests viewing page comments made by users at the very least. I'll look into this some when I have a chance. Are you still having this problem?

Hi JR!

Thanks a lot for your reply! I already know the ticket that you mentioned and hope they'll do sth about it...
I still have the problem with the page comments. Now I tried to to use the journal articles portlet for my purposes (enable guests to write comments) and still nothing comes out. I found out, that one can enable guests to add a discussion for each written article but it also seems like a bug - the guest can only view the article (at least ;) ).

Thanks for your efforts,

Anika

Hi Anika-
I was digging around a bit more on support.liferay.com and I found:
http://support.liferay.com/browse/LEP-3212

To save you time I pulled out one of the helpful comments from that ticket:

<guest-unsupported>
<action-key>ADD_ENTRY</action-key>
</guest-unsupported>

to:

<guest-unsupported>
</guest-unsupported>

ant deploy portal-impl and you can give guests comment permissions.

I haven't actually tried this change, but let me know if it works out for you! emoticon

Hi JR!

Again thanks for your help and a happy new year emoticon!
I cannot find the page comment portlet within these .xml-files, since it only shows number (at least the community.xml where i supposed it to be). So we tried to change the guest permissions for the blogs-portlet (the way they did it in the ticket you mentioned). The portlet-configuration then showed the possibility for guests to add an entry but at last it didnt work out practically - the final adding-click as a guest brought out an error message ("....dont have the roles to add..").
Maybe you know a listing of the portlet names, so i can try this out for the page comments portlet, or something we might have missed changing the blogs-permissions?

Best regards,

Anika
