Download options

Liferay Portal and Liferay Commerce share the same Bundle and Docker image.  To get started using either Liferay Portal or Liferay Commerce, choose the best download option suited for your environment below.

Docker image

To use Liferay Portal 7.4 GA23:

docker run -it -p 8080:8080 liferay/portal:

For more information on using the official Liferay docker image see the liferay/portal repo on Docker Hub.

Bundles and other download options

If you are used to binary releases, you can find the Liferay Portal 7.4 GA23 and Liferay Commerce 4.0 GA23 release on the download page.  If you need additional files (for example, the source code, or dependency libraries), visit the release page.

Dependency Management

For development using the Liferay Platform, update Liferay Workspace to use the  latest dependencies, by adding the following line to the build.gradle file:

dependencies {
	compileOnly group: "com.liferay.portal", name: "release.portal.api"

All portal dependencies are now defined with a single declaration. When using an IDE such as Eclipse or IntelliJ all apis are immediately available in autocomplete for immediate use.

By setting a product info key property it will be possible to update all dependencies to a new version by updating the liferay.workspace.product property in the liferay workspace projects file:

liferay.workspace.product = portal-7.4-ga23

When using an IDE such as Eclipse or IntelliJ all apis are immediately available in autocomplete for immediate use.

Experience Building

Advanced options for fragments configuration

Now fragment developers can decide to place specific fragment configurations into a new “Advanced” tab. In this way, they can separate configurations that might have a negative impact if not used properly.

Semantic markup for Container fragment

As a new advanced option for container fragments, now users can choose which HTML tag is generated, so that a more semantic HTML is generated, improving SEO and accessibility.

More simple responsive configuration for grid and collection display fragments

Now grid and collection display fragments are easier to configure for mobile viewports. Now they are set to one module per row as default for mobile viewports, to prevent users from unconsciously implementing non mobile-friendly layouts.

Add Actions to System (Native) Objects

Provide for System Objects the possibility to start an action based on a webhook and triggered by a specific process of object data entry.

Platform - Application Security

Liferay OAuth 2 provider accepts JWT assertion as client authentication method

The feature allows admin to configure JWT as client authentication method.

Liferay OAuth provider will process authorization grant in JWT form and issue token if the grant in JWT is valid.

Instance Administrator can configure custom request parameters for OpenId Connect

This feature exist, because there are OAuth(OIDC) request parameters and custom parameters required by some OIDC providers.

Admins need this who wants to setup Liferay OIDC for certain OIDC providers.

It allows admin to configure OIDC request parameters that required by some OIDC providers.

Platform - Docker

Docker Version 4.0.0 is released

Docker images will now have a latest tag and the image now uses ubuntu:jammy, the latest LTS version of Ubuntu.

Triggering propagation of the site template changes to all the connected sites automatically

With the new configuration option, Admins can decide to use the old behaviour, or enable automatic propagation when it is enabled on the Template.
Admins should understand that automatic propagation can be a heavy operation, because all the Sites are updated simultaneously.
