It probably depends on customer requirements especially concerning security.<br />I also heard something the quality of the hosting service.<br /><br />Liferay can run on a very low spec machine. If you&#39;re just going to be setting up an internal portal for few people to use, it&#39;s probably better to setup an internal machine.<br /><br />I&#39;m also not too sure about the cost benefit of a low traffic high availability clustering on EC2 nor about providing SSO and other system integration.<br /><br />There&#39;s also some providers which offer Liferay virtual instances.<br /><br />Do a requirement analysis and cost comparison to determine which configuration is the &#34;best&#34; choice for the customer.
