Thanks to everyone for great meeting; especially our sponsors at EastBanc.

We met and shared how we're using Liferay; for example, I have personal use; as well as side projects I'm working on. Others were building for some non-profits; and yet others for real large deployments; and some for internal business uses:

http://www.sharedwork.org/

http://www.teamwareplaza.com/

http://bvakili.com

Then had two technical presentations; first by Shahab Noori on templating; specifically WCM; structures, templates and drag-and-drop content (template content for carousels and more; inspired by Wordpress-Layout-Builder.) Second, Bijan Vakili presented; on Dynamic Data Lists and Templates; specifically for personal use (part of GTD implementation; which I'll do a blog post on later on.) Also highlighted some differences; for DDL and WCM:

WCM is a superset

DDL great for collecting data

WCM great for publishing

WCM has lots more features (e.g. expiration, tie to Asset Framework.)

DDL is bare bones, independent

Both share many similarities too (e.g. structures, templates backend the same)

We plan to have next meeting in August. This time we had laid-back techie meeting; next time we'll push to get more newcomers; and also have businessy talk as well; since the latter covers a lot more ground. Also, we'll have shorter techie sessions; like lightning rounds on Liferay topics.

Some issues we discussed to champion:

Improving Liferay for Admin Usage (e.g. add more OOB theme settings)

Color Picker for the structures and themes

Template repository for admins

Thanks to Johnnie Stubbs for sponsoring food; and again to EastBanc for location. Otherwise thanks to all who attended: Shahab, Vincent, Michelle, Dave, and Johnnie!

Hope to see you all and more at next meet.
