Have you actually weighed the not-required functionality, and compared it to the weight of the pile of programmers you need to remove it?

Thanks for your reply. I know it is great project. But the problem is, 1. When I run it in the home machine, it uses too much memory and very slow. 2. I modify one bundled portlet, but I have to reccompile all those portlets I didn't modify. So I think, if I can remove some portlets I don't want to change, it will be better. My goal is to find a way easy to modify bundled portlet and test it. Regards

As posted above, you can "make it invisible", reducing it to the weight of the electrons required to upload the few extra bytes for these classes <img src='@theme_images_path@/emotions/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />.

Do you really need to delete it or do you actually only want it not to display?

What I want is to delelte it actually. Because it is too heavy, we don't need that much function. In my understanding, if we want to delete it, we should 1. from portal-ejb\portlet , delete the portlet from there. 2. modify the ejb-jar.xml 3. modify the stucts-config.xml 4. from \portal-web\docroot\html\portlet, delete the web presentation. 5. modify the hibernate mapping file Something else ? I have missed something ? Regards

To really completely remove a portlet you would need to: - remove the java class files - remove the portlets JSP/GIF/HTML files (those which are not shared) - remove portlet-specific database tables from database I guess it is not worth the effort and it's better just disable it as Anders indicated. Do you really need to delete it or do you actually only want it not to display? The portal is build such that one can easily hide them as follows: Add the following line to your liferay-portlet-ext.xml <portlet id="33" struts-path="blogs" include="false" />
