Hi,

1. You can create different types of users for your purposes and there's several ways to accomplish what you want (different organizations /communitien / groups for different users, etc.) After login Redirect based on which group user belongs to and so forth.

2. You created your message by using Liferay forums - so yes Liferay has a forum capabilities included (Although this version is a bit customized)

3. Yes Liferay included web form portlet that provides multiple types on fields (you can customize it without coding)

4. Yes Liferay has a calendar where you can create events, display events, etc.

5. I believe this can be done

+++++ of course a lot more

I suggest that you download Liferay yourself and give it a try.
Hi,

I'm new to Liferay, But I've been using alot of cms like Joomla, Drupal, Expression Engine and Wordpress in building my clients websites and portals. I also asked some other co-developer of their Ideas in building a school portal and many of them had advice me that i would go for Liferay, They said that Liferay will be a great solution for my school portal that I'm gonna be building, This portal is for my secondary school. At this point I'm still gathering some Ideas on how I would be build my school portal.

So I need some confirmation from this community if it's really feasible and what are some process involve in implement it using Liferay.

1. The portal will be having 3 types of users, Each of them will have different access and privileges.
- Pain visitor - Can only access public information like "history of school", and "public announcement"
- Logged in Student - will have its own control panel and can access pages meant for students.
- Logged in Teachers - will have its own control panel and can access pages meant for teachers

2. Does Liferay it have Forum?

3. Easy and Customizable forms, that means you could add fields and radio buttons with no coding involve.

4. Does Liferay have Event Calendar?

5. Additional Capabilities for Users
- Logged in Students - will have its own blog w/ categories
- Logged in Teachers - will have its own blog w/ categories and will have a capability to post data to each students (e.g. grades and assignments)

I'm still gathering Ideas, so I'm open to all your suggestion. The functions that I mentioned above are only my thoughts. If you know some good function that would be good for my portal, please feel free to suggest it here. I'm also looking of some great school portal/website which has a great structure of pages.

Thank You!
