You're asking this in 2023, and Liferay Portal 6.1 was last updated
in 2013. 6.0 was last updated in 2011.

So, instead of missing out on 12 years of security updates, you're
now missing out on only 10 years of security updates. And, more
importantly, you're also missing out on the chance of people
remembering vaguely described issues from the ancient past.

The idea of upgrading was great, but the execution shouldn't have
stopped at a 10y old version. Continue on the path, and not only will
you find more people with fresh memory and experience on the latest
version, but you'll also have 10 more years of security issues fixed,
a more modern UI, a load of new features that will make creating sites
 so much easier and pleasant.

On last weekend, I have uprgraded the application from liferay 6.0 to
6.1 to close the security point of HTTPS. This point was long pending
as it was not closed in 6.0 and in Liferay 6.1 it is handled so we
proceed with the upgrade. After upgrading the application to Liferay
6.1, we have observed that Tomcat is getting hung after some time. No
error is shown on tomcat so unable to find the solution. The
operations restores after restarting the Tomcat.

The same code was working fine with previous version of Liferay 6.0.
What can be the actual cause of issue and what is the solution?

Had anyone face this issue before.
