Not really, it's just that the purpose of that file is to keep track of the versions of the libraries that are currently being used, because it would have been difficult to know otherwise. We had never thought of adding the licenses as something so useful.

Hi Jorge,

thanks for the hint. Unfortunately the versions.txt lists all the Liferay dependencies but does not include any reference to the licence they use. The wiki page provides that information as well. Is there any particular reason to don't provide licences in the versions.txt?

Hi Renato,

There is a file called versions.txt inside the lib subdirectory of the sources. I think that it does not get distributed in the binary packages.

Hi Jorge,

is there any file that lists all the Liferay dependencies? I found it on the Wiki page:

but it something that I expected to find somewhere in the deployed war as well.

Hi Linda,

All of Liferay's code is licenced with a MIT license. You can find it at the header of each file.

Do you include a Liferay license file in your installation? I can find 3rd-party licenses (apache,etc.), but nothing for liferay itself.
