If you create a new custom field for a Journalarticle, you can see and edit the value of this field when you edit an article.

The same way you can schedule the content through the fields "Display date","Expiration date" and "Review date" 

Our customer would like to have a "now" button, which will select the current date.

The same as in the form editor, or the date/datetime fields in structured content.

Some of the values in either the scheduled fields or the custom fields are a few years back, and navigation month by month can be a tedious job when you are editing a lot of content.

For them, it will make their experience more efficient and consistent.
