Display Datetime webcontent field in user timezone. in the content editor.

The Webcontent datetime field doesn't contain timezone information and as result the time is always shown in UTC when editing content.

While other metadata fields, such as display date and publish date, do display the time in the user specified timezone, it's not visible to the user that they need to add/subtract the timezone offset to correctly adjust/read the datetime field.

This makes for an inconsistent experience in the webcontent editor.

Please see https://liferay.atlassian.net/browse/LPS-204306.  Can you answer what they are asking on the ticket?

Hi Jamie,

Unfortunately I cannot add any comments to the Jira ticket.

But that's exactly what we want.  The time needs to be stored in utc and shown in the user's timezone.

Just like the metadata fields -> Review date, publish date etc.

I've brought it over, though with my own comment added. I assume you meant the same - please check and let me know if you protest.

Hi Jamie,

Thank you for adding my comments. And I understand Olaf's remark about not caring how it's stored.

But you might want to use this field for scheduling/triggering any actions server side. Which is why I want to plead my case that it's important that the value is stored in UTC, not in the user's specified timezone.

Storage -> UTC

Trigger/scheduler -> UTC

Display -> Specified timezone.

Regards,
