You're asking this in 2023, and Liferay Portal 6.1 was last updated
in 2013. 6.0 was last updated in 2011.
So, instead of missing out on 12 years of security updates, you're
now missing out on only 10 years of security updates. And, more
importantly, you're also missing out on the chance of people
remembering vaguely described issues from the ancient past.
The idea of upgrading was great, but the execution shouldn't have
stopped at a 10y old version. Continue on the path, and not only will
you find more people with fresh memory and experience on the latest
version, but you'll also have 10 more years of security issues fixed,
a more modern UI, a load of new features that will make creating sites
so much easier and pleasant.
