If it's not on the compatibility matrix, then my guess is either
"No", or "Yes, and it didn't work right away".
If you want to make this a feature request: Go ahead. As you ask for
advice: I'd not dare using a storage engine that's untested, even if
it happens to work when you fire it up today. Who knows what
tomorrow's update might bring.
