How to Share Master Pages between Sites ?
Hi Everyone,
we are creating a portal with quiet a lot of Sites.
Almost all of those sites should create the pages in the same way and therefore we thought we could use Master Pages for that.
Unfortunately the global site does not allow to create Master Pages, Asset Libraries hold no master pages and there is no way for them to get propagated through a site template once the site has been created.
Did I miss something ? Is there any way to share master pages ?
Best regards,
Marc
Hi Marc,
I have the same issue... Have you found a solution to share a master page between all company sites ?
Best regards
Patrick
any solution to the problem?
Just found out in DXP 7.4 U86:
Create a site template via Control Panel.
Here you can
- add a stylebook (set it as default)
- add a master page (set it as default)
When you now create more sites in this instance, you can choose this site template.
When you create new pages in these sites, you can choose the master page you've created in the site template.
I'm just starting to learn this myself, but I guess this is it how we can share master pages between sites.
update: to edit the global master page go to site templates and edit the site template via the dots menu.
Best regards,
Gunnar
