RE: What is the future of Liferay Faces + JSF?

Good morning,We are developing JSF interfaces with Liferay Portal, and now we have to migrate to Liferay 7.x because of two issues we found with jsf 2.1 that seem solved with jsf 2.2.

I had a look to this example:https://web.liferay.com/es/community/liferay-projects/liferay-faces/demos

And seems that they only support liferay 7.0.x, not 7.1, and also work until JSF 2.2, not 2.3.

I'm concerned about the future of JSF development on Liferay Portal, we are currently using liferay faces with bridge. Could you please clarify which is the planned future about this? Is liferay encouraging leaving it on latest versions?

Thanks in advance,Alfonso.

Hi Alfonso,The demos page is part of a legacy website -- we hope to forward those pages to liferayfaces.org but simply haven't gotten to that task yet.
The best source of news regarding JSF support is to visit the home page of liferayfaces.org -- on that page you'll see dropdown menus that allow you to choose 1) Liferay Version, 2) JSF version, and 3) Component Suite. Currently we support Portlet 2.0 + JSF 2.2 portlets for Liferay 7.0, 7.1, and 7.2. The reason why JSF 2.3 isn't listed is because we have to first finish JSR 378, which is the spec for Portlet 3.0 + JSF 2.2.

Are there any features in JSF 2.3 that you require in your JSF portlet applications?
Kind Regards,
Neil
