Historically the page name hasn't lived in the control menu which for intranet use cases provides an excellent space for logos, breadcrumbs and other portal navigation items that are there for all users. If the page name is rather long, which can happen, there won't be space to display everything neatly.

Unfortunatly the helpful page finder is located in the middle of the control menu now.

The situation is far worse on mobile phone devices.

Can an alternative location be found for the page finder so that the page name can be hidden by a theme? In our use case we would have to nuke the page name from the control menu so that we had enough space for our globally accessible portal icon links and logo in the control menu especially on phone devices in portrait orientation.

Hey Lee,

The Control Panel was designed as an area for administration controls.

I've heard and understood how you guys are using it for a global navigation across sites, for which there isn't any out of the box solution. I think this deserves being further discussed to determine whether we want to promote using the control bar for global navigation or if there should be a more specific alternative for it (most likely).

Meanwhile, my advice for your case is that you customize the control that shows the page name so that it just displays an icon to enable the page finder.
