RE: Applet for persons with disabilities in a Liferay website
Hello,
Is there a opportunity to create a applet/module for a web site for persons with disabilities. Something like the module from the picture below.
The module from the picture is created in Wordpress.
Is there an applet in Liferay for the people with disabilities - something like the "real accessibility plugin" in Wordpress ?
Thank you very much.
Ps: You can see an example of real accesibility plugin in a wordpress site - https://sgg.gov.ro/new/guvernare-transparenta-deschisa-si-participativa-standardizare-armonizare-dialog-imbunatatit-cod-sipoca-35/

Teodor OlteanuNot sure about the difference between "Accessibility" and "Real Accessibility": Liferay's UI should be accessible (e.g. screen-reader compatible and keyboard-navigable) by default.

Naturally, the administrative UI might be a bit harder due to the amount of features, but in general, it should work.
Personally, I have no experience with tools like screenreaders (and none installed), so I can't vet, but I know that the UI teams are having Accessibility in mind. And on one of the previous symposiums or Devcon, I've seen a blindfolded site creation on stage, utilizing just the keyboard and a screenreader.

Nice. Was it this one?
Fernando FernandezIndeed: Not exactly that one, as I don't know that room. But around that time, and it might have been Sergio presenting. I know that either Julio or they both toured with that presentation for a while. Might have been a joint effort - but it's long enough ago that my attribution can be wrong.Olaf Kock(...) on one of the previous symposiums or Devcon, I've seen a blindfolded site creation on stage, utilizing just the keyboard and a screenreader.

Just a curiosity: we have a blind guy on the Liferay Portugal Users group and he is a programmer and content admin for his organization. He uses Liferay CE 6.2 and says it's not perfect but he manages pretty well. He also provides accessibility consulting services, if anyone needs some.
