7.2 A1 - Suggestion > Edit Web Content Within Fragments

It would be nice to have access to "edit web content" menu when WCD Widget is within a fragment. It would be even better to be able to live edit the Alloy Editor fields within the web content structure while the web content was displaying in a fragment on a content page. In any case having both options would save the user from having to find the web content ID, search for it in Content > Web Content.

Bring back the ellipsis menu into the widgets "topper".

Currently users of content in a widget page can "shortcut" to edit web content and interact with it without having to go search in Content > Web Content. Users of a Content page are without these shortcuts.

Hey Lee,

You are right. The ability to edit the web content (as well as its templates and permissions) has been accidentally removed from Standard Pages (pka Content Pages). It will be added back (see https://issues.liferay.com/browse/LPS-91638)

Hmmmm that LPS is a bit concerning.

"The widget name is shown on top of the widget HTML itself. This name is shown inside a <header class="portlet-topper"> HTML element."

This is a good thing to keep. That LPS won't wipe out the widget name from the portlet topper will it?

Yes, the idea is to wipe the portlet topper, because within the standard page editor, its functions are already provided in different ways. In particular, out of all the options in the three dot menu (which is already not shown now) we have decided to only keep "Configuration" available.

I'm not sure that is a positive change. It seems to work pretty well now dragging in a web content or documents and media etc. Having the portlet topper is a really good thing. But originally this suggestion was to allow web content to be live edited when placed within a fragment.
