During this week's unconference at DevCon there was a very
interesting conversation about how to initialize a Liferay
installation, filling it with content, data and configuration
automatically. It also covered how to automatically (programmatically)
initialize virtual instances (companies) and sites when they are first
created. In some cases there was a desire to go beyond the
initialization upon creation. It also included the need to
automatically update data and configurations when deploying new
versions of the software.
In the session we went over several different solutions for this that
have been created by several companies as well as the Liferay Commerce
team. There was a general feeling that there was a lot of common
ground and it would make sense to collaborate and implement some
services/utils out of the box to make this easier for everybody.

The goal of this category and this first thread is to open the
discussion to the wider community and to have an space to continue collaborating.
