Dependency Management

For development using the Liferay Platform, update Liferay Workspace to use the  lat est dependencies, by adding the following line to the build.gradle file:

dependencies {
	compileOnly group: "com.liferay.portal", name: "release.portal.api"

All portal dependencies are now defined with a single declaration. When Ausing an IDE such as Eclipse or IntelliJ all apis are immediately available in autocomplete for immediate use.

By setting a product info key property it will be possible to update all dependencies to a new version by updating the liferay.workspace.product property in the liferay workspace projects file:

liferay.workspace.product = portal-7.4-ga93

When using an IDE such as Eclipse or IntelliJ all apis are immediately available in autocomplete for immediate use.

All documentation for Liferay Portal and Liferay Commerce can now be found on our documentation site:  For more information on upgrading to Liferay Portal 7.4 GA93 see refer to the Upgrade Overview.

Getting Support

Support is provided by our awesome community. Please visit getting started for more details on how you can receive support.

With JDK 8 LTS ending on 31 Mar 2022 and JDK 11 LTS ending at the end of Sep 2023, is there plans to support JDK 17 soon? Seems to me it should be a priority.

Unfortunately there is a large problem with supporting JDK 17: and the solution to fix it is highly complex.  JDK 11 ends main support on Sep 2023 but extended support continues until 2026.

Thanks for the update. With the release of Java 21 today, I feel Liferay developers are being somewhat left behind. As frameworks such as the Spring framework move to support new features in Java 17 and 21 and add new features of their own, we are stuck using older versions of the frameworks. Still, Liferay is a great product!

There are no new features listed? Also no link to remaining issues or fixes in JIRA. Is this intentional?

The last few releases have been what we consider soft releases which don't have a lot of changes in them.  I will confirm with the release team if the known issues and fixed issues should be blank or not.
