Bundles and other download options

If you are used to binary releases, you can find the Liferay Portal 7.4 GA73 and Liferay Commerce 4.0 GA73 release on the download page.  If you need additional files (for example, the source code, or dependency libraries), visit the release page.

Dependency Management

For development using the Liferay Platform, update Liferay Workspace to use the  latest dependencies, by adding the following line to the build.gradle file:

dependencies {
	compileOnly group: "com.liferay.portal", name: "release.portal.api"

All portal dependencies are now defined with a single declaration. When using an IDE such as Eclipse or IntelliJ all apis are immediately available in autocomplete for immediate use.

By setting a product info key property it will be possible to update all dependencies to a new version by updating the liferay.workspace.product property in the liferay workspace projects file:

liferay.workspace.product = portal-7.4-ga73

When using an IDE such as Eclipse or IntelliJ all apis are immediately available in autocomplete for immediate use.

Option of rating added to Folders and the endpoints for Documents rate by me, Folders rated by me have been created

Publication Templates

With this new feature an admin should be able to help preconfigure a publication to help facilitate their unique workflows.

Publication templates can be leveraged to provide naming patterns to any created publication. Tokens are provided to allow each publication to have unique names.

Admins can also assign roles to users immediately during publication creation.

Using knowledge base with publications

You can now create, edit, or delete knowledge base articles within a publication.

Deleting published publications older than 6months

Publications can take up quite a bit of space in the database.  While some users need an extensive history, others do not.

With this new feature we can provide an optional clean up to remove older publications for those who do not need the history.

Manage tags and categories for Object Entries through APIs

Now users can manage the tags and categories associated with the Objects entries from the REST APIs. When an Object has Categorization enabled, properties for tags and categories will be exposed in the Object entries schemas. Users can retrieve the information, set or update the tags and categories associated with the Object entries as well as use the information of these fields to filter information

Core Upgrades

DL size timeout

Creation of a new property called that specifies the number of seconds that the upgrade report generation will wait for calculating the DL size before timing out. This property is set to 10 by default but it can be modified in the file.
