Also, exit code means that there is not enough memory, in this case for the forked process. Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel

Lee Jordan 2 Years Ago - Edited These are some nice features, I worry about the nature of time and the release of unstable features that are still work in progress. Which is fine for a hobbyist or a curious community member but putting out features so close to release will have downfalls for Enterprise users stuck on that version for 4 years. That said, the lack of redirection is the biggest irk for us in 7.0. Will this allow us to rename the URL's of sites as the acronyms of our org changes? The biggest thing with page URL's was that users never did use page sets. They would add a child page because that was the most obvious thing given in the UI. Having "Add Site Section" in addition to "Add Child Page" would have probably solved that UX issue there but that didn;t seem to be pursued. The result is that none of or URL's reflect the page structure, it's all one flat level. So instead of /ethics/hr/policy and /ethics/clinical/policy we have /ethics/policy-1 and /ethics/policy-2. The "new navigation menus" since 7.1 too have never been able to offer the user the ability to open a link in a new tab. This is very odd, and for us our users have a preference to open external to site links in a new tab. They can do it within the old main navigation, but somehow this simple form field never made it in to 7.1+ ?? The biggest thing with content pages vs widget pages ... parity. I can't see how a conversion tool could work without content pages fully supporting a widgets look and feel settings. Currently there even seems to be a reluctance to allow widgets in content pages have titles which is crazy! Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel
Lee Jordan 2 Years Ago - Edited The other thing that would be a highly valuable feature ... deleting pages > then sends pages to recycle bin. Within reason how many coffees can be offered to have deleted pages both never expire in the trash and be rescued from the recycle bin vs being lost forever? Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel David Gomez Lee Jordan 2 Years Ago Hey Lee, Sorry for the late reply. I initially read you comment from a notification in my phone and I forgot to reply the day after. It's true that we try to improve as many things as we can with each release (in fact, part of the reason why we moved to a more frequent release cycle with the CE GAs was to be able to act on feedback like this. On the other side, it's not always easy to keep the balance between adding new features that are also requested by other customers/users and all the feedback we have like yours. (we would like to have all of it, but sometimes it's not easy). Regarding your suggestions, I'm already trying to check with engineering. I know some of them are already being discussed. I will try to follow up the status on these suggestions. Have you already added them as feature requests in JIRA or in the forums? If so (I know that you would have probably already done it), let me know and I will try to catch up and follow the discussion there. If you havent' I will happily add it to track the conversation with engineering. Thanks for your feedback. Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel Lee Jordan David Gomez 2 Years Ago - Edited No doubt it's great to see the base portal advancing. Maybe there's a better way something like uservoice.com where things can be centralized. My personal fear is that on Web Experience Management, it's still work in progress and still isn't complete. Worse still the thrust of these changes seem to be making it harder for the end user to create content on Liferay and even worse than that at times this has been seen as acceptable collateral damage. The problem is thrusting the new stuff front and center while it's still WIP means a lot of heartache for end users as well as trainers. Things we like are removed or discounted, things we hate are kept and taken forward. Therefore I would put forward the suggestion that the "modern site building" is opt in from the get go, as a portal admin you can decide if your users continue with what they have and then build a focus group around the new ... or dive right in to the new. That it's not front and center until it's finished, who knows maybe Liferay 8. That a user acceptance group be formed in the community encompassing enterprise customers too. Please sign in to reply. Andre Kreienbring 2 Years Ago - Edited Unfortunatly I also see ERRORs regarding the new Elasticsearch7 doing a fresh install on Windows 7 and Wildfly. 2020-07-31 16:27:55.321 ERROR [ServerService Thread Pool -- 90][ElasticsearchConnectionManager:83] Elasticsearch sidecar could not be started. Search will be unavailable. Manual installation of Elasticsearch and activation of remote mode is recommended. java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException at java.base/java.nio.file.Files.setPosixFilePermissions(Files.java:2078) And I'm pretty sure that nothing runs on port 9201. Also the DB was populated with 274 tables. But in the log I see errors like: Caused by: com.liferay.portal.kernel.exception.NoSuchGroupException: No Group exists with the key {companyId=20099, groupKey=Guest} when I try to start the portal for the first time... Any ideas? Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel Tibor Lipusz Andre Kreienbring 2 Years Ago Hello Andre, We are sorry to hear that you experience problems with the sidecar mode. It looks like a Windows OS specific issue as our QA was able to reproduce it on Windows 10 too. Will be tracked on https://issues.liferay.com/browse/LPS-118320. Riccardo Saponi 2 Years Ago - Edited Many Elasticsearch Sidecar Exceptions with docker on MacOS (image liferay/portal:7.3.3-ga4), nothing listening on port 9201 or similar. Some portlet unavailable in App Menu. Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel Jamie Sammons Riccardo Saponi 2 Years Ago Hi @Riccardo, I tried it on my Mac and it appears to run fine for me. Sidecar should be spawned inside the image itself as a separate jvm process so port 9201 would only be in the image. Given the increase in memory requirements it's possible that you may need to increase the amount of memory allowed in Docker itself. Please sign in to reply. Reply as... Cancel
