Do you like waffles?

If you don't, there's an easy way to swap out your waffle menu...

Another short one today, this one is due to something shared with me by my good friend Olaf Kock...

It starts with a question - do you like waffles? Or, more specifically, do you like the Liferay Waffle Menu?

It starts with the little waffle icon:

And from there, you get to your Applications menu:

Or even your Control Panel:

I do like the waffle menu, well, except when I don't.

For example, if I go to Objects but then want to get over to Instance Settings, I'm always clicking the waffle and then maybe clicking on Control Panel and then on the item I want. And oops, I didn't want Instance Settings, I needed System Settings and now I'm back to clicking through the waffle and others to find the panel I need...

At times like this, I do miss the older left-side flyout that had the control panel stuff at the top and the site stuff underneath it. Some of those tedious navigation issues through the waffle were less of a problem then...

So recently Olaf pointed out this setting:

Turns out that, if you don't like waffles, just uncheck this box and hit the save button, and voila:

The left-side flyout menu is restored. You can see I have both Configuration and Object expanded, so I can easily switch between them...

And, just as before, the Site-level menu stuff is going to be just below on the same left-side flyout.

So, maybe now you're not sure if you like waffles or not. Well, the setting controls it so you can try administering your portal with and without the waffle.

Do your own testing, see which one you like best...

And, if you don't mind, leave me a comment below whether you like waffles or not. Me (and I think Olaf too), I'm in the "don't like waffles" camp.
