A Minute Read

Every two weeks, I host an “Ask Me Anything” session for the Liferay community.

And every two weeks, I’m reminded of something:

The people who show up get real value.

The people who don’t… are often the ones who need it most.

Let’s talk about that.

What the AMA Actually Is

This isn’t a webinar.

It’s not a presentation.

There are no slides.

It’s an open session where you bring your questions, your architecture problems, your upgrade concerns, your Service Builder issues, your headless API puzzles, your “why is this even happening?” moments.

Who's invited?

  • Clients.
  • Partners.
  • Community members.
  • Even Liferay employees.

Everyone is welcome.

We meet, we talk, we share stories, we solve things.

Why I Started Doing This

After years of blogging, teaching, and working with teams, I kept seeing the same pattern:

  • Developers get stuck.
  • Architects hesitate.
  • Teams overthink.
  • Upgrades get delayed.
  • Ideas stall.

Not because the problem is impossible.

But because they don’t have someone to sanity-check it with.

The AMA is that sanity check.

Sometimes the solution takes five minutes.

Sometimes it sparks a larger discussion.

Sometimes it prevents months of technical debt.

That’s worth one hour.

The Real Value

Here’s what people don’t realize:

You’re not just getting answers from me.

You’re hearing how others are solving problems.

You’re learning what challenges are common.

You’re getting exposure to perspectives you may not have considered.

  • It’s collaborative.
  • It’s practical.
  • It’s unscripted.

And it’s often the most honest Liferay conversation you’ll have all month.

“But I Don’t Have a Question…”

That’s fine.

Come listen. Come share.

You’ll still learn something.

And the day you do have a question, you’ll already know where to go.

“What If My Question Is Basic?”

Perfect.

Basic questions prevent complex mistakes.

And if you’re wondering about it, someone else probably is too.

“What If My Question Is Advanced?”

Even better.

Bring it.

Deep dives are welcome.

Logistics

The sessions are held every other Tuesday at 14:00 UTC.

We’re now using Google Meet (no more Zoom).

If you’d like to be added to the calendar invite list, just email me at:

david.nebinger@liferay.com

I’ll add you, and you’ll receive the recurring invite.

No registration forms.

No mailing lists.

No sales pitches.

Just a calendar invite.

A Small Ask From Me

If you’ve ever:

  • Spent hours debugging something that took five minutes to explain

  • Wondered if you were “doing Liferay the right way”

  • Delayed asking a question because you thought it was too small

  • Wanted broader perspective on architecture or upgrades

Then join.

The Liferay community gets stronger when we talk to each other.

See you at the next AMA.
