Hi everyone,

I'm really excited to announce that we have a new approach that you can use to tell us about the things that you think should be in the product.

It's called "Product Ideas", and it's live, as of today, on discuss.liferay.com. You can find it here:

https://discuss.liferay.com/c/product-ideas/

Why does this matter?

Your feedback is the most critical driver of our product innovation. To ensure we capture and act on your insights more effectively, we've introduced this new, clearer, more transparent process for submitting your requests and ideas.

Who is it for?

This is the cool part - this new process is for everyone. It doesn't matter whether you are using Liferay Community edition, or if you are a Customer, Partner, or Liferay Employee using Liferay DXP, this is a level playing field - everyone can submit their product ideas.

What's different about this new process?

At this point you might be wondering how this is different from other feedback mechanisms. The key point with Product Ideas is that they are regularly, and actively, triaged by our Product team, who will identify and merge duplicates, categorise ideas, and ensure clarity.

This means that you have certainty that your idea will be taken seriously. Obviously we can't guarantee that every idea will be taken forward and end up in the product - but you will know quickly what our decision is.

How can you contribute?

Easy - first, if you haven't registered to use discuss.liferay.com yet, pop over there, create an account (which is super easy as you can use a Google or GitHub login) and then visit the Product Ideas category.

There are two things that you can do:

  1. Propose your new ideas
  2. Vote on other ideas

This second point is really important to us - an idea might be a good one, but maybe it's only of interest to a few people - or maybe only one. If you vote on it, it tells us that it's important to lots of people - which is one of the things we look for.

When you submit an idea you'll get a clear and simple template to fill in -which asks three things:

  1. What is the problem you are trying to solve?
  2. What is your project about? (e. g. Intranet, Partner Portal, Enterprise Website, etc)
  3. What is your proposed solution? (optional)

You can also add Tags if you want (i.e. if you know which Capability in the platform your idea relates to) - but these are optional - our team will do this as part of the triage process.

Want to learn more?

Great! Checkout the About the Product Ideas category topic for full details of how you can get involved, what happens after you submit an idea, and what the possible resolutions to ideas are.

And that's it - get your ideas flowing!

Cheers,

Ben
