Time for another installment of Community Roundup! I enjoy taking a tour of the Liferay Community in these blog posts, I hope you find them useful. Lots of items of interest in the last 2 weeks, so let's get started.
- The official announcement page is up for the 2011 East Coast Symposium (ECS) in Washington, D.C. in May. The Call For Papers is still open through March 10, so keep 'em coming!
- Liferay IDE 1.2 has been released, along with some great new features: Portlet UI, JSF/Vaadin, Ext plugin improvements, better Liferay Server customizations, and more! Read more...
- Check this out: CorraTech's open solutions use Liferay, and they have a fun writeup to boot!
- CMSWire recently had this to say about Liferay. Not sure how OSGi and Microblogging found its way into the same bullet, but nonetheless, a nice view into the future.
- Yay for Liferay technical videos! Omegabit has a bunch of them here.
- The Liferay Greek Community has recently started a Facebook page and has an associated Twitter account. They are making great contributions and I am happy to see Greece represented nicely. In a related topic, Pyrros Dimas is one of my heros!
- Calling all Filmmakers! Make a great video and win an Amazon Kindle! Liferay is calling on YOU, the Liferay Community, to showcase your world with Liferay. Participate in Liferay's first ever community video contest, make a video, upload it anywhere, and tell us about it!
- Liferay 6 CE GA4 (also known as 6.0.6) is wrapping up. We are done with backporting and are in a test phase now. Translations are due today so if you have any last minute changes, better get 'em in soon.
- The 100 PaperCuts program is off to a great start. Sprint 1 will end next week, and we have made good progress on it. Hitesh has also joined the team and will be starting next week in Sprint 2. Thanks for all of the volunteers so far! If you are interested in giving back and learning a lot about Liferay internals, I highly recommend this program! Just leave comments if you are interested in volunteering.
- Gordon writes about The Utah Department of Workforce Services using Liferay and Vaadin, with over 48k users signed on since November 2010.
- Josh writes up a nice intro on getting started with Liferay, Maven, and Eclipse.
