Hey gang, I wanted to update you on some recent community news and activities going on..
- The Liferay Italy Symposium had over 150 attendees, thanks to those that attended. We are looking forward to next year's events!
- Dutch members, Proteon is hosting their first Dutch-speaking Liferay Community Event November 23! There's also a new Dutch Liferay Forum.
- Aaron Delani, Brad Wood, Wes Gong, and Stephen Wilburn, and the non-profit World Impact opened the World Impact Schools site, built on Liferay. Nice work!
- Dana Blankenhorn wrote about Liferay's success as an open source portal.
- Alexey Kakunin has produced a couple of nice Liferay efforts: Activiti Workflow plugin, and now several VM images for Amazon EC2.
- Help us figure out new message board rank titles. I'd like to wrap this up this week.
- eWeek Labs put up a product page for Liferay Portal 6. Pleae add your review if you have time!
- I'm serious about community members doing a Liferay Live session. If you have a topic you'd like to present (and get more exposure for), let me know. We're always looking for new topics for community members. You can do this from the comfort of your living room, all you have to have is a webcam, mic, and some material. We even provide the training

- Lastly, I am working on a revamp of the community landing page, showing community announcements, recent contributions (a combination of blogs, wiki, forum, web, and other external feeds from around the web), recent JIRA ticket activity, most requested features (and their status), top contributors, upcoming events, links to popular resources, and a canonical list of current and planned-for future Liferay releases (all of which will be published via standard feed types). This will give the front page a dynamic quality that I hope you will like. I'm shooting for end of this year.
Many of you have been asking about roadmaps, future versions, so I will get a 6.1 roadmap discussion going with a Liferay Live presentation in December, so keep an eye out for that. Any other suggestions, let me know.
