Hey all,
There seems to be a restriction in Liferay (4.3.4) that the first page entry in the navigation should be "Page Type: Portlet", not an URL for example. Do You know any way to deal with this?
My problems is the following:
In the navigation of the Guest community, I have an page type URL as a link to another community main page. When I enter that
community, navigation entries swap in the navigation of that community if I have page type URL links to the pages of the Guest community. So, a consistent page linking between different communities does not work properly.
Any ideas?
Yours,
Mikael

If we allowed the first layout of a community to be a link.. then you
would have an extremely difficult time getting to that community... for
example... right now /web/guest sends you to /wed/guest/1 as expected
because it's the first page... but if that page is a redirect then...
where are you going???? not to where you think you are going... there
are certain operations as well in page management that can never be sure
where to send you after making a change... but since the first page is a
fixed target, you can safely be sent there... there are also many other
issues to consider when making the first layout anything but a portlet
layout. It would be very risky to alter this behaviour... without doing
lots of testing and finding some safe alternative.

Thanks for an answer!
Yeah, I understand your point. The main page of the community should always be a page of portlet type.
However, basically I mean a possibility to change the display order of the page layouts in the navigation in every way one wants and, for example, a check box in the page settings [x] Is this page the main page of the community? This should always be a page of portlet type.
In this way the display order of the page layout would be separated from info which page is the main page of the community. This makes it possible to link between different commununities so that navigations remain consistent without the swap of the navigation entries.

Very good idea!
Can you create a "New Feature" JIRA ticket at
http://support.liferay.com for
this so we don't forget about it?
Thanks.

If this was the intention I think you can overcome it by deleting the first page. Then the next one becomes the first page and if it is a URL type you would have your first page be the url.
And you can modify it using Communities portlet (that's what I did when I had hard time modifying the page
)
