RE: User segments in sites
Good afternoon,
we are investigating the use of the Segments in Liferay 7.4. We understand that segments can be created at site level (for instance, to grant a personalized experience to some site users) and at a global level (for instance, to batch assign roles).
We would like to use them at Site level, but we do not understand why, when we create a segment in a site (using the Site Administration menu), the conditions are applied to all the portal users, including in the segment users who have nothing to do with the current site.
Could you please explain why ?
Thank you and BR,
Francesco Cincotti
Sites don't have their own users - those accounts are shared throughout the whole portal (or virtual instance).
Despite Membership to a site being limitable, there might be pages and/or content that is open to the public - this condtion needs to e be taken into account.
If the site has public pages, all users can see those pages
If the site has view-restricted pages, they might not be restricted by membership in a site, but by other criteria.
