I have custom portlet, it shows records from database.

If I put it under control panel I have performance issue - looks like request wait something. Business logic works fast (<100ms), but page rendered 5-10s.

In the same time same portlet on site working extremly fast.

No idea what what happens (additional calls or another magic or whatever).

No idea. Please help.

What I would check first is the browser console to see if there are any javascript issues or if it's waiting a long time to load a resource.

If it's the server that's taking a long time, taking some thread dumps while it's processing should tell you what it's doing.
